[ The Seeker © 2020 L.E. Badillo ] Do you know what happens to little girls
who ask too many nosy questions?

Slumber party girls with cupcake icing
around your pink mouths,
fingers on the yardsale ouija board
with nails painted powder blue?

Braveheart girls who call forth unknown spirits and demons
as if the act is no more dangerous than
riding your femmegang bicycles or walking down a busy street,
catcalls sticking like burrs to your school uniforms?

Ragefilled girls who sneak out of their houses to kiss boys
or other girls, to go to climate change protests
or write rainbow slogans on heart-shaped placards?

Do you know what happens to little girls
who ask too many nosy questions?
Sometimes, they find all the answers.
