The Mirrormask competition is now closed.
The winners of this competition (all stories published in The Future Fire issue 2005.04) are Allen McGill (first prize), Brett Alexander Savory, and John Young (runners up). Honourable mention also goes to excellent entries by C. A. Gardner, Peter Tennant, and Monica Valentinelli. Many thanks to all who entered and provided a very strong field from which to select.
To celebrate the release of Mirrormask on the big screen, The Future Fire and Noise Marketing are offering a selection of promotional goodies, including a Dark Horse bust of the "Dark Queen", collectible figures, and posters, in a short writing competition. Contestants are invited to submit flash fiction in the dark fantasy and horror genres (anything in prose or verse, up to one page long). Maximum of two entries per individual. The first prize-winning entry will receive the goodies, and be published in issue #4 of The Future Fire, December 2005. Up to two runners-up or honourable mentions will also receive promotional packs, and may also be published in a future issue.
Employees of The Future Fire and
their families are welcome to enter the competition,
but will be disqualified from receiving the first
prize (unless there really is nothing else good
submitted). The judges' decision is final, and no
correspondence will be entered into.
To enter the competition, send your piece of flash

, with the subject line 'Mirrormask
Competition/Flashes of Darkness'. The deadline for
receipt of competition entries is Midnight (GMT) on
December 1st, 2005.
Good luck!
